The third result of the Arguing at School project have been discussed in Lyon and can be downloaded here.
The Guidelines for a Whole School Approach to Pupils Quarrelling are written to support actors and education and training organisations to reflect upon, plan and implement a Whole School Approach, with a specific focus on conflicts between pupils. They are intended to be adapted and revised over a period of years as the Arguing at School approach becomes more widely used and more consistently defined and to take account of wider developments in the Education system.
The Guidelines addresses not only the teachers, schools Leaders and school staff, but also all the members of the Learning Community surrounding the pupils: the parents and families, the City life institutions, the social services and all persons acting in relation with the schools and the children. Guidelines are structured into 3 parts:
- The Whole School Approach, what it means and represents, its key aspects and the role of different actors;
- A synthesis about the practices and examples coming from a survey among the project partners, about how they envisage and implement whole school approaches practices;
- Practical guidelines for implementing a successful whole school approach, including a phased methodology, a set of tools, and a reflexive process to evaluate the benefits of this implementation in the long run.
The document highlights the benefits and barriers related to the adoption of Psycho- pedagogical Methods to help children learn from arguing, as well as on outcomes of other works and literature available.
